Most of those YU stickers are reproductions put on cars for nostalgic reasons, as they fit the time those cars were new. But you can still quite often find an authentic one.

As for the classic American cars, you could say there is a fair number of them, considering the difficulty of maintenance, high taxes and fuel consumption. For those reasons, in most cases that famous V8 rumble was replaced with what my friend described as "the sound of eternity" - Mercedes-Benz 200/240/300 diesel.
I'm preparing a photo album containing pictures of USA cars from ex-YU, hopefully it will be finished soon.
Those pictures would be most interesting, hope you'll find and share them with us!

And since you mentioned Chrysler Valiant, this one was just registered in Novi Sad. It's a 1962 V200 with push-button automatic transmission and 170 cid slant six (2800 ccm):

Hello to Serbia from Switzerland

Thanks for all your pictures!

Do you have the possibility to buy an old "YU" Sticker?
;-)
I'd like to have one on my old 240TD; as your friend says, the eternity :-)

I'm looking forward to your next pictures!

this would be great!

Can I send you something from Switzerland? "CH" or something other?

Can you send it with a normal enveloppe? We've to pay custom fees for parcels.

Since my last post there were a few Oldtimer meets, and also some Typ 43's have emerged.

Meet in Becej:

Meet in Banja Luka:

A CS I found in Bosnia. Bodywork is in a very rough condition, so in a month or two the car will probably be scrapped, so I arranged to go and salvage as much usable parts as possible before it happens. I'm especially looking forward to that CS spoiler, CS headlights and working schiebedach with good dichtung. Engine runs only on LPG, so I'm guessing K-Jetronic is busted.

Is this Audi 200-like central console original for the CS, or was it transplanted from 200?

Next, two pre-facelift Typ-43. First one is a 5-zylinder, and the second has 1.6 liter engine:

Yes, it is original for the CS. The "CS" equipment includes the middle and central console and the steering wheel like it is in the Audi 200 and special seat covers. For the exterior there are the spoiler and special rims.

Ohne Motor und Körper unfall :P

On an unrelated note, I put an old Blaupunkt in the car, and made this device which enables listening to music from MP3 player/phone/whatever:

Can someone tell me if I can register and sell on e-bay from Serbia? I have some quite rare car parts that I've bought over the years, and I've decided the time has come to sell them.

The CS and the Bulgarian Avant from a few posts above both went to the crusher. I offered to buy whole cars or just parts (for twice the worth of what they would get for scrap metal), but they declined. What can you do.

On the other hand, an update:

A photo that might be interesting - from the truck factory FAP:

Bild

The caption translates
An exceptional and rare documents from our factory's archive: An experimental jump by our 25-year-old test driver Hajrudin Budzovic in our truck. The jump was performed from a height of 1.5 meters, and the truck flew through the air for 14 meters at 73 km/h. The vehicle survived the jump.
